OUT OF THE ORDINARY

31 07 2007

kyleToday was a little out of the ordinary.

Instead of our usual planning sessions for Kid Zone and Kid Club, we took a break and stepped back to try to plan next years Youth group. This was no simple feat! We needed to plan around a central theme, and then come up with sub-themes and activities/lessons for every week under each sub-theme. Confused? I don’t blame you.

We set out at 9:15 for the Wierda’s barn where we started with a couple of “thinker” games to get the creative juices flowing. Then we set about the formidable task of planning youth group for next year. Before we started, however, we bathed the process in prayer for about a half hour, asking God’s spirit to lead to the things that He wants to work through. It was a very meaningful time of supplication. After planning for most of the morning, we took a break and grabbed some lunch at China King Buffet. Mmmmmmm……Chinese food. Then, with our stomachs full, we went back to the Lodge and continued planning for 3 more hours.

We got a little giddy toward the end, but we got the job done.

All in all, it was a fun day. We got to break out of ordinary and enjoy a day of fun together, planning the youth groups future. What a responsibility to be a part of the planning team. I think I speak for all of the interns when I say that I was humbled and honored to be able to take part in such an important time. I look forward with anticipation to the year ahead of us.

Kyle
